REST IN PIECES
Riddle me this, riddle me that. Our glass is neither half full nor half empty – It’s broken. Tell me where that fits in the attitude analogy?
Yes, we’ve encountered our first wedding present casualty. One of our little glasses has lost its battle with the everyday use of the Sigetys. Very fitting for this size cup to be called a tumbler. But although this leaves our set of cups incomplete, somehow I think we’ll manage.
You see, there once was a Kim Sigety’s mom named Pat. When Pat got married she saved all her nicer kitchenware to use only for special dinners and parties. But in all reality, those “fancy kitchenware occasions” came few and far between. So in the cupboard sat her select set of silverware and her classiest cups.
Years went by and Pat realized that these pieces never got the use they fully deserved. Thus, in all her womanly wisdom, she passed on this bit of advice to her beautiful and humble daughter as she entered the way of the newlywed…
“Don’t save your nice kitchenware to be set out only for special occasions. Use it as often as you like. In fact, use it and love it now before it goes out of style.”
So I’ll raise my other non-cracked cups to you, oh little fractured flask. Your loss will be hard to swallow, but you’ve served the Sigetys well and we’ll sip in honor of you this day. Oh, and while I have my glass in the air, here’s to you Kim Sigety’s mom named Pat, for your cup of knowledge truly runneth over.
