THEORY OF NEGATIVITY

There seems to be a growing trend, as far as I'm concerned, toward negativity in the world. People go about their days holding half-empty glasses, accusing any number of sources for emptying their emotional well being.

You could have been happy, but your boss only criticizes and never compliments.

You could have been happy, but your schoolwork is so demanding that you can hardly find time to sleep, let alone keep ahead in your classes.

You could have been happy, but your kids throw tantrums and don't appreciate what you do.

You could have been happy, but there is so much suffering in the world that you find yourself constantly depressed.

You could have been happy, but other people are so much smarter and prettier that you are.

You could have been happy, but you kept finding reasons to be sad and ran out of time to be happy.

So amidst a sea of "could have been happys" and half-empty glasses, I raise a toast to all of us and enlist a challenge. It's time to rethink the current state of mind. Let's quench our thirst for life by gratefully and blissfully drinking in each momentary drop.

Now tip your half-empty glasses and drink up!! It's time to look for ways to fill yourself back to half-full again.

This blog is my quest to do just that: accumulate the drops of the present bliss so I can look back on my experiences in awe at the overflow of blessings and happiness I call mine.

Anyone else thirsty?
